Creating Custom Fields

Create custom fields to capture additional structured information about your people.

Introduction

Custom fields allow you to store information that is unique to your organisation — such as Cost Centre, Probation Date, Allowances, Regions, or Internal Codes.

Once created, custom fields appear on the Settings tab of a person profile and can be updated at any time.

Before You Get Started

You must be an Account Owner or Admin to create custom fields.

Plan your fields carefully - always consider if you need a new custom field

Getting Started

  1. From the left-hand menu, go to Settings.

  2. Click Custom fields.

  3. Click Add custom field (top right).

Create Your Custom Field

When creating a new custom field, you will be asked to configure the following:

1. Field Name

Enter a clear and descriptive name (e.g. Cost Centre, Probation Date, Bonus %).

2. Field Type

Choose from one of the available field types:

  • Text – Free text entry

  • Date – Calendar date picker

  • Choice – Select from predefined options

  • Number – Numeric value (with optional % or $ format)

3. Configure Field Options

Depending on the field type selected, you may be able to:

  • Add predefined options (for Choice fields)

  • Select a number format (% or $)

  • Mark the field as required

Once configured, click Save.

Managing Existing Custom Fields

From Settings → Custom fields, you can:

  • Click Edit to update the field configuration

  • Click Archive to remove it from active use

Archiving a field removes the field AND the historical data.

Where Custom Fields Appear

After saving, your custom field will appear on each person’s profile under:

Person Profile → Settings tab → Custom fields card

You're All Done!

Your custom field is now ready to use across your organisation.
