Make a request
Ask for something that needs sign-off, then see exactly where it's up to without chasing anyone.
Before you get started
You can make the requests your organisation has set up for your role. If the one you need isn't there, ask your account owner.
Make a request
Go to Requests, in the personal section of the menu.
Select New request.
Choose the kind of request.
If the request is about someone, choose them under Requested for. You'll only see the people this request can be about.
Answer the questions. Required questions must be answered before you can send it.
Select Send request.
The request page opens, and the first approval step starts straight away.
Not ready to send? Select Save as draft instead. Drafts stay in your list, only you and account owners can see them, and you can open one to finish it later.
Follow your request
Your Requests page lists your requests, with Open shown by default. Switch to Closed to see finished ones, or search to find a particular request.
Open a request to see:
The answers you gave.
Each approval step in order, who is approving it and what they decided, including any reason they gave.
The current status, the owner if there is one, and when it was created.
Your answers are locked once the request is sent.
You're told when your request is rejected or completed, in your inbox and by email.
Cancel a request
You can cancel your own request while it's a draft, while it's waiting on approval, or while it's in progress with an owner. Open the request and select Cancel.
Once every step is approved, the request can't be cancelled while Worknice carries out what happens next.
If your request is rejected
The request ends at the step where it was rejected, and the approver's reason, if they gave one, shows on the request. A rejected request can't be edited and sent again. Make a new request with the details changed.
Common questions
Can the person my request is about see it? Not because it's about them. See Who can see a request.
