Approve leave for your team

Leave that needs your approval collects in one place, so you can see what is waiting and clear it without hunting through email.

Before you get started

You see leave requests where you are the approver. This is separate from the Leave permission your account owner grants, which controls whether you can see your team's balances and requests generally. See What you can see about your team.

Find leave waiting for you

Go to Team, then Leave.

The page lists the leave requests you have been asked to approve. Each row shows the leave type, its current status, the dates and who requested it.

Leave approvals also appear in your Inbox, and opening one from there brings you to this same view. The Inbox is the better habit, because it tells you when something is waiting rather than relying on you to look.

Filter to what needs action

The list keeps requests you have already dealt with, so it grows over time.

  • Any status narrows the list. Requested is the one that needs you.

  • Search matches on the request.

  • Display changes how the list is sorted and grouped.

The three statuses you will see are Requested, Approved and Denied.

Record your decision

  1. Select the request to open it.

  2. Review the leave type, the dates and who it is for.

  3. Approve or deny it.

The request moves out of Requested, and the person who asked is notified of the outcome.

Requests are handled one at a time. There is no way to approve several at once, so a backlog is worked through individually.

What happens next

Where your organisation runs leave through a payroll integration, an approved request still has to be processed in payroll. Your account owner or payroll admin handles that step, so approving here is not always the last thing that happens to a request.

You're All Done!

You can now find leave waiting on you, filter down to what needs action and record your decision.
