Creating a data table

Create a new Data Table to structure and manage custom workforce data in Worknice.

Introduction

Data Tables let you store and manage structured data in Worknice. They’re useful when you need to capture information in a table format, such as payroll data, compensation overviews, employment details, emergency contact info, current onboards and any other operational data linked to your people and workforce.

Once created, a Data Table can be used to organise information clearly and consistently across your organisation.

Before You Get Started

You must be an Account owner to create and manage Data Tables.

Tables are views saved for each user. Other users will NOT see your table.

Before creating a table, think about:

  • What information you want to track

  • What columns you’ll need

  • Who should maintain the data

Getting Started

  1. Go to Tables in the left-hand menu.

  2. Click Add Table.

Create Your Data Table

When creating a new Data Table, you’ll be asked to set up the following:

1. Name Your Table

Give your table a clear, descriptive name.
For example:

  • Payroll data

  • Compensation overview (live-synced from payroll)

  • Employment details

  • Emergency contact info

  • Current Onboarders

  1. Add a description

Descriptions help to remind you what the purpose of the table is.

3. Add Columns

Add the columns you want to include in the table.
These columns define the structure of your data.

For example, a compensation details may contain:

  • Employee Name

  • Position

  • Positon code

  • Job start date

  • Employment basis

  • Pay rate

  • Pay period

  • Connections (integrated apps powering the data)

3. Choose relevant filters

For any columns that have filters, you can apply them and save them as part of this table.

4. Save Your Table

Once your columns are set up, click Save to create the table.

After Your Table Is Created

Once saved, you can begin adding rows of data to the table.

You can also return later to:

  • Add more rows

  • Edit existing entries

  • Update the structure of the table if needed

You're All Done!

Your new Data Table is now ready to use.
